Can I ride a Jet Ski without a license?
Yes! You don’t need a license to ride a Jet Ski with Poseidon Adventure. We provide a full briefing and basic training to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable ride.
What are the age restrictions?
To drive a Jet Ski with us, you must be at least 16 years old. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian will need to sign a waiver on your behalf. Additionally, drivers under 18 cannot carry another passenger under 18; they may only ride solo or with a passenger aged 18 or older. Passengers must be 7 years or older.
How many riders can ride at one time?
A maximum of two riders can ride at one time. You can however take it in turns and swap halfway through.
Are there weight restrictions?
Yes. For safety reasons single riders may not exceed 130kg as they pose a risk to themselves and the staff at Poseidon Adventure, as we do not have the capabilities of rescuing someone of that size. There is also a combined weight limit of 200kg.
Do I have to book online?
Most definitely not. Although if you want to secure the time you like, we recommend booking online. Otherwise give us a call to check availability.
Are the tours on the website the only tours you offer?
No! If you have a group function (work, bucks, hens, Christmas, etc.) give us a call to see what packages we can do for you.
Do you need Jet Ski Experience?
No. Our expert guides and staff are here to give you a full safety briefing and demonstration to give you comfort and ease before setting of on your tour.
What happens if the weather is bad?
In case of poor weather, we may need to reschedule the tour or adjust the itinerary for safety reasons. Customers can choose to reschedule or receive a gift voucher valid for 12 months.
How can I book a jet ski tour or hire?
You can book directly through our website, by calling our office, or visiting us in person at our location.
do i need to book online?
Online bookings are recommended to secure your preferred date and time, especially during busy periods. Walk-ins may be available depending on availability.
what time should i arrive?
Please arrive 30 minutes before your booking time to allow time for check-in and any required safety briefing.
what happens if the weather is bad?
We operate in a range of weather conditions, however safety always comes first. If conditions are unsuitable, we may reschedule your booking, issue a gift voucher, or provide a refund in line with our cancellation policy.
can i cancel my booking?
yes. Bookings cancelled more than 48 hours before start time are eligible for a refund minus a 1.9% processing fee. Bookings cancelled within 24–48 hours may be rescheduled or converted to a gift voucher valid for 12 months. Bookings cancelled within 24 hours of departure are non-refundable and non-reschedulable.
What happens if Poseidon Adventure cancels the booking?
If we need to cancel due to weather, safety or operational reasons, we will first try to reschedule your booking or provide a gift voucher. If neither option is suitable, a full refund will be provided.
can the itinerary change?
Yes. Management reserves the right to change the itinerary, route, departure time, stop locations or inclusions due to weather, safety concerns, operational requirements or unforeseen circumstances.
is there storage for my belongings?
Storage varies depending on the product. Jet skis have limited storage, while our boats have more capacity. We recommend bringing only what you need for the day, and all personal belongings are brought at your own risk.
Are your experiences suitable for beginners?
Many of our experiences are suitable for beginners, including our guided jet ski tours and a number of our boat-based products. Please check the individual product details or contact us if you’re unsure which experience is best for you.
what should i bring on the day?
This depends on the product you’ve booked, but generally we recommend bringing sun protection, a water bottle, and anything else noted in your booking confirmation.
Do I need a license to ride a jet ski on your tours?
No. You do not need a licence to join our guided jet ski tours.
Is it safe for beginners or people with no experience?
Yes. Our guided tours are designed to be suitable for beginners, provided all participants follow guide instructions and safety procedures.
What are the age limits to drive and for passengers?
Drivers must be 16 years or older and passengers must be 7 years or older.

Yes, guests can bring phones or cameras at their own risk. Poseidon Adventure is not liable for any loss or damage to personal items.
Is there storage for my belongings?
Jet skis have limited storage, so we recommend bringing only essential items for the day. We may be able to store small belongings in the office or lockbox on the dock, but space is limited.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. The maximum weight is 130kg per rider and 200kg total per jet ski.
what boat tours do you offer?

Our boat tours depart from Flinders Street Wharfs, Townsville, with pick up options from Magnetic Island.

what's the minimum age for the magnetic island adventurer tour?
Infants aged 0–23 months may travel free of charge, however the tour is not recommended for babies under 12 months due to the nature of the vessel and varying sea conditions.
do i need experience to go snorkelling?
No. You do not need prior snorkelling experience, however guests should be comfortable in and around the water and be able to follow crew instructions and should let us know if they are inexperienced or not confident in the water.
is snorkelling included on every boat tour?
No. Some boat tours include snorkelling, while others do not. Please check the specific tour inclusions on the product page before booking.
what happens if conditions are unsuitable for snorkelling?
If conditions are not suitable, snorkelling locations may be changed, reduced, or cancelled altogether for safety reasons. Management reserves the right to adjust the itinerary to provide the safest and best possible experience on the day.

Yes, there is generally more storage available on the boat than on a jet ski, however we still recommend bringing only what you need for the day. Space can be limited depending on passenger numbers, and personal belongings are brought at your own risk.
do i have to do the guided walk?
The guided walk is conducted on a natural walking track and may include uneven ground, rocks, inclines and downhill sections, so guests should have an average level of fitness and suitable footwear. Participation is optional. You do not have to complete the guided walk if you do not wish to.
